The Davis Cup finals will take place over 11 days in 2021, not the previous 7. The International Tennis Federation is considering holding the competition in three European cities, not just the Spanish capital, Madrid. The ITF announced today that the finals of the Men`s World Team Tennis Championships will run from 25 November to 5 December, with 18 countries divided into six groups of three. The number of nations reaching the finals will be reduced to 16 in 2022. According to the proposal to host three cities, the two new ones will host the matches analyzed by contact with football tipsters in two of the groups and one quarterfinal match. Madrid, where the current format of the finals debuts in 2019, will host two of the groups, two quarterfinals, the semifinals and the final. The ITF has stated that there will be an open procedure for submitting applications for hosting cities that can join Madrid in 2021. A decision on which cities will host and whether to add additional ones is expected by March, depending on the situation with the development of the coronavirus pandemic. The Davis Cup final in Madrid was canceled due to KOVID-19.
