Football prediction Nasser Al Attiyah: We are waiting for Alonso to return to Dakar

Four-time Dakar champion Nasser Al-Attiyah hopes to see Fernando Alonso on the rally-raid list again in the future.


Alonso competed in the Dakar at the start of 2020, during a period when he did not compete in Formula 1. As part of Toyota, Alonso finished eight of the twelve special stages in the top 10 and took 13th place in the final analyzed by football partners classification.


I am still pushing Alonso for a new participation in the Dakar. I knew Fernando from F1 but met him when he joined the team in 2020. The team asked me to help Fernando learn how to fly the sand dunes. Three days in Qatar, the temperature was a little below 50 degrees and Fernando did an amazing job. He is an incredibly talented racer.


At his first Dakar, he showed excellent speed. In a race like this you need experience - you can look at the history of the Dakar and see that you need 4-5-6 years of experience before you can win. But Fernando looked great. And we continue to communicate with him. We are waiting for his return, " said Al-Attiyah.
