Bill Daly said there was considerable interest in Ottawa`s listing for sale.


There seems to be significant interest, which is good. There has to be a healthy process, " said the vice-commissioner of the NHL.


The process was launched in early November. The daughters of former Senators owner Eugene Melnik, who passed away in the spring, put the club up for sale.


The new owner (or pool of owners) will be required to keep it in Ottawa. Sportico estimates that Ottawa is worth $655 million.


Note that Melnik himself bought the club in 2003 for $92 million. Before that, the Sens faced bankruptcy and the threat of a possible relocation.
